Ezekial Thatcher was clerk of the Parkville School District, Shasta County, Calif. He emigrated to California from Pennsylvania in 1850 and helped establish the first school district in the Parkville area. He is descended from the Thatchers of Uffington, England, the same family as Denis Thatcher, husband of British Prime Minister Margaret Thatcher. From the description of H.H. John Russell, born in Ireland in 1832, came to Australia in 1837. He was later engaged in N.S.W. and New Zealand in various ventures, leasing land for the grazing of cattle as well as exporting cattle from N.S.W. to New Zealand.
